The Gales of November

October 27, 1979

Happy Anniversary to Us!

This year it's 38 years of marriage! We postponed our celebration until November 10, 11, 12 this year. Destination: Cascade Lodge on Lake Superior.

November 10 is the Anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald. The tragic accident happened just 4 years before we were married.  I didn't realize that at the time but it makes sense now why the song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordan Lightfoot was so popular in the late 70's.

Nice footage of shipping in the Great Lakes.

So our trip is themed this year.  Gales of November.  I can only hope to see waves crashing against the rocks.  I think we can listen to the Best of Gordan Lightfoot on the way up. ONCE.  And I know we can find a local brew with a November-like name.  We will also visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and unrelated to shipwrecks hike with my new backpack looking for fallen birch limbs and red dogwood for holiday decorating.  Happy anniversary to us!

My Coca-Cola Machine

My 1964 Coca-Cola Machine is back home after a brief stint at the hanger.  About a year ago we brought it over to the hanger to be cleaned and slightly refurbished.  It looks beautiful and I am happy to have my conversation piece back in my kitchen.

Cheers!

No Ribbon - Already Planning Next Year

Winning a ribbon at the State Fair may take me a couple of tries. I'm satisfied with the personal goal I had this summer to enter my school house collection.  AND I will find a great spot in my home to hang my collection of Minnesota School houses.  BUT I'm not going to give up, I'm just going to enlist Tim with his incredible small detail talents and together we are going to get a ribbon at the Minnesota State Fair!

Looking forward to the judges commentary

This collection was REALLY good.  It deserved the Blue ribbon.
Happy with my goal - of entering : )

National Aviation Day

Landing...this picture shows the little falls.

Little Falls Minnesota- Morrison County Airport

Three planes at the airport...ours being the prettiest.

The Morrison County airport has a nice FBO and a courtesy car.

We visited the  Minnesota Historical Society's museum of Charles Lindbergh's boyhood home.
There was costumed actors playing the role's of Lindbergh's mother and neighbors during the start up of World War I

My favorite room of the house was Lindbergh's porch bedroom.  It overlooked the Mississippi river and the weather was perfect Saturday peering out the screened windows.

Our flight was perfect.  The scenery...great.

On our way home we flew right over St. Paul
