Sewing Dorothy's Dress
Sewing a Dorothy Dress for Georgie
Georgie asked me to sew her a Dorothy dress for her Halloween costume, and of course, I was more than happy to say yes! I was looking forward to getting back to my sewing room after a full summer of watering flowers in the gardens. (And yes, I really do think it takes that much time every evening!)
I found some beautiful fabric for this project at ShabbyFabrics.com, and I couldn’t wait to get started. The only catch? This pattern was not nearly as intuitive as I had hoped! I ended up ripping out the back of the dress three different times and making a few modifications before I could get everything to line up properly. Let’s just say this little Dorothy dress required a bit more patience than I had anticipated!
But that’s part of sewing, isn’t it? Sometimes a project comes together beautifully right away, and other times, there’s a fair amount of seam ripping, tweaking, and figuring things out along the way. I was determined to get it right for Georgie, and I knew the extra effort would be worth it in the end.
